Stacey is a freelance writer and editor in Seattle, Washington. She has over fifteen years experience reporting and writing. As a senior editor and investigative reporter at U.S. News & World Report, she wrote extensively on high profile medical, scientific, and policy issues. In her research, she has analyzed legal and scientific documents and conducted in-depth interviews with scientific experts and government officials. As a freelance writer, she has written for National Geographic News, Brain, Child, and The Scientist, among other publications. She has also worked as an editor for global health and education divisions of the University of Washington and local non-profit organizations.

Stacey also has experience as an educator, including two years in the Baltimore City Public School system as part of Teach for America and as a trained Montessori teacher. She has a BA from Oberlin College.
